The New life in Christ: He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. Luke 1:53.

Jesus sat down opposite the place where the offerings were put and watched the crowd putting their money into the temple treasury. Many rich people threw in large amounts. But a poor widow came and put in two very small copper coins, worth only a fraction of a penny.
Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything-all she had to live on.” Mark 12:41-44.
“There was a rich man who was dressed in purple and fine linen and lived in luxury every day. At his gate laid a beggar named Lazarus, covered with sores and longing to eat what fell from the rich man’s table.”
The time came when the beggar died and the angels carried him to Abraham’s side. The rich man also died and was buried.
In hell, where he was in torment, he looked up and saw Abraham far away, with Lazarus by his side.
So he called to him, ‘Father Abraham, have pity on me…’
But Abraham replied, ‘Son, remember that in you lifetime you received good things, while Lazarus received bad things, but now he is comforted here and you are in agony. Luke 16:19-25.
He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty. Luke 1:53. Amen.
