You search the scriptures... John 5:39

Thursday 28 February 2013

The New life in Christ: The tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. James 3:5.

Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing, this should not be. Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? Can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water. James 3:10-13.
Who is wise and understanding among you? Let him show it by his good life, by deeds done in the humility that comes from wisdom.
What causes fights and quarrels among you? When you ask, you do not received, because you ask with wrong motives, that you may spend what you get on your pleasures. James 4:1-3.
God opposes the proud
but gives grace to the humble.” James 4:6. Amen.

Wednesday 27 February 2013

The New life in Christ: Tongues, then, are a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers. 1Corinthians 14:22.

Undoubtedly there are all sorts of languages in the world, yet none of them is without meaning.
If then I do not grasp the meaning of what someone is saying, I am a foreigner to a speaker, and he is a foreigner to me. 1Corinthians 14:10-11.
For this reason anyone who speaks in a tongue should pray that he may interpret what he says. 1Corinthians 14:13.
If you are praising God with your spirit, how can one who finds himself among those who do not understand say “Amen” to your thanksgiving, since he does not know what you are saying? 1Corinthians 14:16.
In the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue. 1Corinthians 14:19. Amen.

Tuesday 26 February 2013

The New life in Christ: Their destiny is destruction, their God is their stomach, and their glory is in their shame. Their mind is on earthly things. Philippians 3:19.

There were also false prophets among the people.
Many will follow their shameful ways and will bring the way of truth into disrepute.
In their greed these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up.
Their condemnation has long been hanging over them, and their destruction has not been sleeping.
If this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trails and to hold the unrighteous for the Day of Judgment, while continuing their punishment. 2Peter 2:1-3 & 2:9.
The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with the work of Satan displayed in all kinds of counterfeit miracles, signs and wonders, and in every sort of evil that deceives those who are perishing. They perish because they refused to love the truth and so be saved.
And so that all will be condemned who have not believed the truth but have
delighted in wickedness. 2Thessalonians 2:9-12. Amen.

Monday 25 February 2013

The New life in Christ: But have not love, I gain nothing. 1Corinthians 13:3.

If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal.
Love, it always protects, always trusts, always hopes, and always perseveres.
Love never fails. But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away.
For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when perfection comes, the imperfect disappears.
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love. 1Corinthians 13:1-13.
“Love your neighbor as yourself. All the law and the prophets hang on one of this commandment. Matthew 22:39-40.
In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead. James 2:17. Amen.

Sunday 24 February 2013

The New life in Christ: Freely you have received, freely give. Matthew 10:8.

In the same way, the LORD has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel.
But I have not used any of these rights. And I am not writing this in the hope that you will do such things for me. I would rather die than have anyone deprive me of this boast. Yet when I preach the gospel, I cannot boast, for I am compelled to preach.
I am simply discharging the trust committed to me.
What then is my reward? Just this: that in preaching the gospel I may offer it free of charge, and so not make use of my rights in preaching it. 1Corinthians 9: 14-18.
Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do we distort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we command ourselves to every man’s conscience in the sight of God. 2Corinthians 4:2.
If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not take him into your house or welcome him. 2John 1:10. Amen.

Saturday 23 February 2013

The New life in Christ: Those who do right do not have to fear the rulers; only those who do wrong fear them. Romans 13:3.

After Jesus and his disciples arrived in Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma tax came to Peter and asked, “Doesn’t your teacher pay the temple tax?”
“Yes, he does,” he replied.
When Peter came into the house, Jesus was the first to speak.
…”From whom do the kings of the earth collect duty and taxes-from their own sons or from others?”
“From others,” Peter answered.
“Then the sons are exempt,” Jesus said to him. “But so that we may not offend them, go to the lake and throw out your line. Take the first fish you catch; open its mouth and you will find a four-drachma coin. Take it and give it to them for my tax and yours.” Matthew 17:24-27.
You must yield to the government, not only because you might be punished, but because of conscience.
Pay everyone, then what you owe. If you owe any kind of tax, pay it. Show respect and honor to them all. Romans 13:5-7.
I have set you an example that you should do as I have done… John 13:15.
Amen.

Friday 22 February 2013

The New life in Christ: So that we serve in the new way of the Spirit, and not in the old way of the written code. Romans 7:6.

Therefore let us leave the elementary teachings about Christ and go on to maturity, not laying again the foundation of repentance from acts that lead to death, and of faith in God, instruction about baptisms, the laying on of hands, the resurrection of the dead, and eternal judgment. Hebrews 6:1-2.
No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, ‘Know the Lord’,
because they will all know me,
from the least of them to the greatest. Hebrews 8:11.
By calling this covenant “new”, he has made the first one obsolete; and what is obsolete and again will soon disappear. Hebrews 8:13. Amen.

Thursday 21 February 2013

The New life in Christ: Thus you nullify the word of God for the sake of your tradition. Matthew 15:6.

“These people honor me with their lips,
but their hearts are far from me.
They worship me in vain;
their teachings are but rules
taught by men.” Matthew 15:8-9.
“Leave them; they are blind guides. If a blind man leads a blind man, both will fall into a pit.” Matthew 15:14.
For they do not practice what they preach. They tie up heavy loads and put them on men’s shoulders, but they themselves are not willing to lift a finger to move them.
Everything they do is done for men to see: Matthew 23:3-5.
Am I trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ. Galatians 1:10. Amen.

Wednesday 20 February 2013

The New life in Christ: “We must obey God rather than men!” Acts 5:29.

Some times ago Theudas appeared, claiming to be somebody, and about four hundred men rallied to him. He was killed, all his followers were dispersed, and it all came to nothing.
After him, Judas the Galilean, appeared in the days of the census and led a band of people in revolt. He too was killed, and all his followers were scattered.
Therefore, in the present case I advice you: Leave these men alone! Let them go! For if their purpose or activity is of human origin, it will fail.
But if it is from God, you will not be able to stop these men; Acts 5:36-39.
Every plant that my heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots. Matthew 15:13.
“I believed; therefore I have spoken.” 2Corinthians 4:13. Amen.

Tuesday 19 February 2013

The New life in Christ: Everyone who sins breaks the law; in fact, sin is lawlessness. 1John 3:4.

He who does what is sinful is of the devil, because the devil has been sinning from the beginning.
No one who is born of God will continue to sin, because God’s seed remains in him; he can not go on sinning, because he has been born of God.
This is how we know who the children of God are and who the children of the devil are; 1John 3:8-10.
Let us not love with words or tongue but with actions and in truth. 1John 3:18.
Do not imitate what is evil but what is good. Anyone who does what is good is from God. Anyone who does what is evil has not seen God. 3John 1:11. Amen.

Monday 18 February 2013

The New life in Christ: Godliness with contentment is great gain. 1Timothy 6:6.

Why spend your money on something that is not real food? Why work for something that does not really satisfy you? Isaiah 55:2.
“Your evil will bring punishment to you, and the wrong you have done will teach you a lesson.
Think about it and understand that it is a terrible evil to turn away from the LORD your God. It is wrong not to fear me.” Jeremiah 2:19.
Like a bird hatching an egg it did not lay, so are the people who get rich by cheating. When their lives are half finished, they will lose their riches. At the end of their lives, it will be clear they were fools. Jeremiah 17:11. Amen.

Sunday 17 February 2013

The New life In Christ: Keeping God’s commands is what counts.

Woe to you…You give a tenth of your spices-mint, dill and cumin. But you have neglected the more important matters of the law-justice, mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former. Matthew 23:23.
For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers to say what their itching ears want to hear. They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths. 2Timothy 4:3-4.
But you must teach what is in accord with sound doctrine. Titus 2:1.
In everything set them an example by doing what is good. Titus 2:7. Amen.

Saturday 16 February 2013

The New life In Christ: The Special Day of Judging.

A priest should teach what he knows, and people should learn the teaching from him, because he is the messenger of the LORD All Powerful. Malachi 2:7.
You have wearied the LORD with your words. Yet you say, “How have we wearied him?” By saying, “All who do evil are good in the sight of the LORD, and we delights in them.’ Or by asking, “Where is the God of justice?” Malachi 2:17.
Will anyone rob God? Yet you are robbing me! But you say, “How are we robbing you?” In your tithes and offerings! Malachi 3:8.
If the ministry that condemns men is glorious, how much more glorious is the ministry that brings righteousness! 2Corinthians 3:9.
“Be hold, I am coming soon! My reward is with me, and I will give to everyone according to what he has done. Revelation 22:12.
Amen.

Friday 15 February 2013

The New life In Christ: I, the LORD, have spoken, and I will do it. Ezekiel 36:36.

Anyone who trusts in me will not be disappointed. Isaiah 49:23.
“I will now give that cup of punishment to those who gave you pain, who told you,
‘Bow down so we walk over you.’ They made your back like dirt for them to walk on;
You were like a street for them to travel on.” Isaiah 51:23.
“I will force those who trouble you to eat their own flesh.
Their own blood will be wine that makes them drink.
Then everyone will know
I, the LORD, am the One who saves you;
I am the Powerful One who saves you.” Isaiah 49:26.
I, the LORD, have rebuilt what was destroyed and have planted what was empty. Ezekiel 36:36. Amen.

Thursday 14 February 2013

The New life In Christ: In the following directives I have no praise for you, for your meetings do more harm than good. 1Corinthians 11:17.

In the first place, I hear that when you come together as a church, there are divisions among you, and to some extent I believe it.
When you come together, it is not the Lord ’s Supper you eat, for as you eat each of you goes ahead without waiting for anybody else. One remains hungry, another gets drunk. Don’t you have homes to eat and drink in?
Shall I praise you for this? Certainly not! 1Corinthians 11:18-22.
So then, when you come together to eat, wait for each other. If anyone is hungry, he should eat at home, so that when you meet together it may not result in judgment. 1Corinthians 11:33-34. Amen.

Wednesday 13 February 2013

The New life In Christ: People who do what is right may have many problems, but the LORD will solve them all. Psalm 34:19.

The LORD says, “I will make you wise and show you where to go. I will guide you and watch over you.” Psalm 32:8.
The LORD’s plans will stand forever; his ideas will last from now on. Psalm 33:11.
This is what the LORD, who saves you, the Holy One, says:
I am the LORD your God,
Who teaches you to do what is good,
Who leads you in the way you should go.” Isaiah 48:17.
And we speak about these things, not with words taught us by human wisdom, but with words taught us by the Spirit. And so we explain spiritual truths to spiritual people.
A person who does not have the Spirit does not accept the truths that come from the Spirit of God. 1Corinthians 2:13-14. Amen.

Tuesday 12 February 2013

The New life In Christ: Tell me, “I will save you.” Psalm 35:3.

The LORD answered Elijah’s prayer; the boy began breathing again and was alive. Elijah carried the boy downstairs and gave him to his mother and said, “See! Your son is alive!”
‘Now I know you really are a man from God,’ the woman said to Elijah. “I know that the LORD truly speaks through you!1Kings 17:22-24.
Paul gathered a pile of brushwood and, as he put it on the fire, a viper, driven out by the heat, fastened itself on his hand. When the islanders saw the snake hanging from his hand, they said to each other, “This man must be a murderer; for though he escaped from the sea; Justice has not allowed him to live.”
But Paul shook the snake off into the fire and suffered him to swell up or suddenly fall dead, but after waiting a long time and seeing nothing unusual happen to him, they changed their minds and said he was a god. Acts 28:3-6. Amen.

Monday 11 February 2013

The New life In Christ: Therefore Jesus told, “The world it hates me because I testify that what is does is evil.” John 7:7.

“Why is my language not clear to you? Because you are unable to hear what I say. You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry your father’s desire (Worldly desires).
…There is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.
Yet because I tell you the truth, you do not believe me!
He who belongs to God hears what God says. The reason you do not hear is that you do not belong to God.” John 8:43-49.
“But I honor my Father and you dishonor me,” said Jesus.
Though you do not know him, I know him. If I said I did not, I would be a liar like you, but I do know him and keep his word. John 8:55. Amen.

Sunday 10 February 2013

The New life In Christ: It is written in the prophets, ‘They will all be taught by God’ John 6:45.

I am the bread that gives life. John 6:48.
Jesus said, “I tell you the truth, you must eat the flesh of the Son of Man (keep the word of God), and drink his blood (follow His words in our day to day life). Otherwise, you won’t have real life in you.
Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood have eternal life, and I will raise them up on the last day.
My flesh is true food, and my blood is true drink.
Those who eat my flesh and drink my blood live in me and I live in them. John 6:53-56.
I am not like the bread your ancestors ate. They ate that bread and still died. I am the bread that comes down from heaven and whoever eats this bread will live forever. John 6:58.
If people choose to do what God wants, they will know that my teaching comes from God and not from me. Those who teach their own ideas are trying to get honor for themselves. But those who try to bring honor to the one who sent him speak the truth, and there is nothing false in them. John 7:17-18. Amen.

Saturday 9 February 2013

The New life In Christ: “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.” John 4:42.

So they asked him, “What miraculous sign then will you give that we may see it and believe you? What will you do? Our forefathers ate the manna in the desert; as it is written: “He gave them bread from heaven to eat.”
Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, it is not Moses who has given you the bread from heaven. For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.” John 6:30-33.
Then Jesus declared, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. But as I told you, you have seen me and still you do not believe. John 6:35-36.
And this is the will of him who sent me, that I shall lose none of all that he has given me, but raise them up at the last day. John 6:39. Amen.

Friday 8 February 2013

The New life In Christ: You think the clay (human) is equal to the potter (God). Isaiah 29:16.

The Lord says:
“These people say they love me; they show honor to me with words, but their hearts are far from me.
The honor they show me is nothing but human rules.
So I will continue to amaze these people by doing more and more miracles. Their wise men will lose their wisdom;
Their wise men will not be able to understand. Isaiah 29:13-14.
The Egyptians are only people and are not God.
Their horses are only animals and are not Spirit.
The LORD will stretch out his arm,
and the one who helps will stumble,
and the people who wanted help will fall. All of them will be destroyed together. Isaiah 31:3.
Is Apollos important? No! Is Paul important? No! We are only servants of God who helped you believe. Each one of us did the work God gave is to do. I planted the seed, and Apollos watered it. But God is the One who made it (faith) grow. So the one who plants is not important, and the one who waters is not important. Only God, who makes things grow, is important. 1Corinthians 3:5-7. Amen.

Thursday 7 February 2013

The New life In Christ: His God teaches him and shows him the right way. Isaiah 28:26.

A person who does what is right and speaks what is right, who refuses to take money unfairly, who refuses to take money to hurt others, who does not listen to plans of murder, who refuses to think about evil - this is the kind of person who will be safe. He will be protected as he would be in a high, walled city.
He will always have bread,
and he will not run out of water. Isaiah 33:15-16.
“The poor and needy people look for water, but they can’t find any. Their tongues are dry and thirst.
But, I, the LORD, will answer their prayers;
People will see these things and understand; they will think carefully about these things and learn that the Lord’s power did this, that the Holy One made these things.” Isaiah 41:17 & 41:20. Amen.

Wednesday 6 February 2013

The New Life In Christ: “God has granted even the Gentiles repentance unto life.” Acts 11:18.

Peter began to speak: “I now realize how true it is that God does not show favoritism but accepts men from every nation who fear him and do what is right.: Acts 10:34-35.
All the prophets testify about him that everyone who believes in him receives forgiveness of sins through his name. Acts 10:43.
“So if God gave them the same gift as he gave us, who believed in the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to think that I could oppose God?” Acts 11:17. Amen.

Tuesday 5 February 2013

The New life In Christ: You are the salt of the earth…You are the light that gives light to the world. Matthew 5:13-14.

Those people who know they have great spiritual needs are happy, because the kingdom of heaven belongs to them.
Those who are sad now are happy, because God will comfort them.
Those who are humble are happy, because the earth will belong to them.
Those who want to do the right more than anything else are happy, because God will fully satisfy them.
Those who show mercy to others are happy, because God will show mercy to them.
Those who are pure in their thinking are happy, because they will be with God.
Those who work to bring peace are happy, because God will call them his children.
Those who are treated badly for doing good are happy, because the kingdom of heaven belongs to them. Matthew 5:3-10.
Whoever refuses to obey any command and teaches other people not to obey that command will be the least important in the kingdom of heaven.
But whoever obeys the commands and teaches other people to obey them will be great in the kingdom of heaven. Matthew 5:19-20. Amen.

Monday 4 February 2013

The New life In Christ: Let your conversation be always full of grace, seasoned with salt so that you may know how to answer everyone. Colossians 4:6.

So Paul and Barnabas spent considerable time there, speaking boldly for the Lord, who confirmed the message of his grace by enabling them to do miraculous signs and wonders. Acts 14:3.
In Lystra, there sat a man crippled in his feet, who was lame from birth and had never walked.
He listened to Paul as he was speaking.
Paul looked directly at him, saw that he had faith to be healed and called out,
“Stand up on your feet!”
At that, the man jumped up and began to walk. Acts 15:8-10.
I can do everything through him who gives me strength. Philippians 4:13. Amen.

Sunday 3 February 2013

The New Life In Christ: Have nothing to do with the fruitless deeds of darkness, which are not worth anything. But show that they are wrong. Ephesians 5:11.

And Christ gave gifts to people-he made some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to go and tell the Good News, and some to have the work of caring for and teaching God’s people.
Christ gave those gifts to prepare God’s holy people for the work of serving, to make the body of Christ stronger.
We must become like a mature person, growing UN-until we become like Christ and have perfection.
We will not be influenced by every new teaching we hear from people who are trying to fool us. Ephesians 4:11-14.
You must do this not only while they are watching you, to please them. With all your heart you must do what God wants as people who are obeying Christ. Ephesians 6:6. Amen.

Saturday 2 February 2013

The New life In Christ: Do not make the Holy Spirit sad. Ephesians 4:30.

Think about the things that are good and worthy of praise. Think about the things that are true and honorable and right and pure and beautiful and respected.
Do what you leaned and received from me, what I told you, and what you saw me do. And the God who gives peace will be with you. Philippians 4:8-9.
Our appeal does not come from lies or wrong reasons, nor were we trying to trick you.
You know that we never tried to influence you by saying nice things about you. We were not trying to get your money; we had no selfishness to hide from you. God knows that this is true. 1Thessalonians 2:3-5.
Every plant that my Heavenly Father has not planted will be pulled up by the roots. Matthew 15:13. Amen.

Friday 1 February 2013

The New life In Christ: This does not surprise us. Even Satan changes himself to look like an angel of light. 2Corinthians 11:14.

Do you think I am trying to make people accept me? No, God is the one I am trying to please. Am I trying to please people? If I still wanted to please people, I would not be a servant of Christ.
I did not get it from humans, nor did anyone teach it to me, but Jesus Christ showed it to me. Galatians 1:10 & 1:12.
Now am I your enemy because I tell you the truth? Galatians 4:16.
But I trust in the Lord that you will not believe those different ideas. Whoever is confusing you with such ideas will be punished. Galatians 5:10. Amen.
