For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.
Those who belong to Christ have crucified the sinful nature with its passions and desires. Galatians 5:17 & 5:24.
…you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their thinking…
You, however, did not come to know Christ that way. Ephesians 4:17 & 4:20.
Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ…This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved-and that by God. For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for him… Philippians 1:28-30.
…so that you may become blameless and pure, children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation, in which you shine like stars in the universe as you hold out the word of life-in order that I may boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor for nothing.
